WWCC Summary

Women's World Chess Championship summary
Two players out of 64 participants didn`t manage to arrive to Hatay. Polish player Iweta Rajlich who was traveling with her husband and new-born kid was stopped by the weather conditions. The Warsaw airport was closed, so the whole Polish delegation went to close by Ukrainian city Lvov to fly from there, but this was not possible either. There was made a decision to travel to Kiev, but Rajlich family decided that it would be a too difficult journey for the kid, so they went back and sent apology letter to FIDE. English player Jovanka Houska, therefore, was lucky to promote to the second match without playing. Australian player Arianne Caolli didn't come too and her opponent Ju Wenjun from China will start playing from the second match.

Horrible day for Russian participants
The second day was really horrible for Russian participants – 5 out 6 players were eliminated and only Aleksandra Kosteniuk continues to play tomorrow with Sopiko Khukhashvili on the tie-break.

Among the promoted players are Humpy Koneru, Hou Yifan, Dembo Yelena, Anna and Maria Muzichyk, Harika Dronavalli, Ju Wenjun, Zhao Xue, Anna Zatonskih. Seven matches will be decided on tie-breaks tomorrow.

After unfortunate start of the 2nd round Viktorija Cmilyte and Huang Qian won their games and equalized the score in the matches against Elisabeth Paehtz and Antoanetta Stefanova accordingly. Playing with black pieces Tatiana Kosintseva had to win today against Yelena Dembo after the unlucky first game. She was really close to succeed but lost the chance to activate her pieces under the time trouble and had to accept a draw.
